Using the principles of “The Mozart Effect” the aim of the class is to provide stimulation, aid development and promote a lifelong love of music.
M.A.D. About Music encourages the bond between parent / carer and child through shared music making.
Classes are structured and consist of :
Playing the instruments encourages hand eye co-ordination, concentration, rhythm and more. There is scientific evidence to show that teaching a child music produces a measurable improvement in a child’s ability to think, study and learn.
Each term will follow a theme and songs and craft pick up that theme. Themes we have covered have been Songs from Around The World, telling stories with songs, musical notation, pitch and rhythm, Dancing, instruments of the orchestra and many more.
Regardless of what you think about it, your child loves your voice. Be confident and your child will learn to be confident about their own voice.
Let them wander and then come back to the circle if that is what they need to do. There are various stages in the session where children will head back to the group of their own accord. Just concentrate on enjoying yourselves.
There is no lower age limit to this class. There is evidence to show that listening to music benefits babies emotional state, stress and anxiety levels, communication skills and spatial development from before birth. Babies are absolutely welcome and are encouraged from birth. They will only be charged once they are sitting up and an active participant in the group (around 4 or 5 months). Upper age limit depends on the child themselves. Music classes are aimed at the under 5’s but if your child is still enjoying the classes they are very welcome to stay on.
